Rooted in the Cramahe community
As a current resident of Castleton, Sherry was born in Northumberland County and has had the privilege of raising her family here. Her children and grandchildren are living in the very same welcoming surroundings that she has always called home.
She deeply values our rural agricultural heritage, the warmth of neighbours helping neighbours, and the balance of country living with local access to necessities.
Keeping Cramahe strong, vibrant, and connected is at the core of why Sherry chooses to serve.
Proven leadership and practical experience...
As an entrepreneur and CEO, Sherry has operated her own businesses for 30 years and served on a number of not for profit Boards of Directors. Volunteering is in her DNA. With her background in science, she brings analytical problem-solving and sound fiscal management to municipal governance. Her 10 years experience as CEO of the Brighton-Cramahe Chamber of Commerce gave her wide exposure to the business/government interface in our community and surrounding area including the agricultural sector.
Having completed a successful term as Councillor, she understands how our local government functions and how to deliver results. Her work with Cramahe Heritage, Economic Development and Healthcare Needs Committees has resulted in many successes. As the current Chair of Lower Trent Conservation Authority, Sherry is once again expanding her leadership capabilities.
She advocates strongly for community engagement and welcomes more public input into the decision making process.
Lifelong commitment to service
Giving back has been a lifelong passion. Over many years, Sherry has actively served on a variety of non-profit boards and committees. In addition to the municipal committees and intermunicipal boards, she is also the current Coordinate of a charitable project which focuses on "cultivating democracy" among our youth. The Brian Todd Memorial Community Fund street banner project in Brighton is a "heart-tug project" for Sherry. It engages our youth and gives them a voice in our public spaces.
This commitment to community engagement has kept her in touch with the daily concerns and aspirations of residents across our township and throughout our county.
